The Ultimate Beauty Checklist

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, bride-to-be! Now that you are engaged, you must be facing many choices with regards to planning your nuptials. After all, tying the knot is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and every detail must live up to your idea of perfection! But as you curate the special occasion, do not forget to make time for self-care. Without a doubt, all the flowers and decorations will seem irrelevant when all eyes are on you. Plus, every woman deserves to feel and look their best on their big day!

We understand that wedding planning can take up heaps of time and effort. So, for a future wife who finds herself passionately knee-deep into it, we prepared a pre-wedding beauty checklist! Most experts advise starting the process for at least 1 year before the momentous day. However, every step does not have to be followed strictly but make sure to stick with what applies to you, especially if the set date is fast approaching. To start, read below for the manageable and fail-proof beauty plan we made just for you!

12 Months Prior:

❏     Consult your dermatologist

For a woman with sensitive skin and other concerns, it is wise to start and commit to a beauty regimen that is tailored to your skin's demands as early as possible. This may include availing a skin peel or laser treatment. Also, nourishing your skin minimises pores and lines as well as ensures a radiant and glowing look. Hence, see a trusted dermatologist and follow their prescribed skincare routine!

❏     See a hair expert and colourist

If you want to bring your locks to their perfection and full health, consult with a hair expert and a colourist for needed hair treatment as well as for the most suiting length and shade for you.

6 Months Prior:

❏     Find a hairstylist and a makeup artist

Six months to your wedding date is the best time to scout for a hairstylist and a makeup artist for the actual day. This not only ensures a slot to their busy schedules but allows practice tests to see if they can do the impressive look you are aiming for. Start with scrolling through Instagram to find the profiles that display the look you envision. Accomplish this only after finalising your wedding attire since the dress chooses the hair!

❏     Start laser hair removal treatments

Aiming for a perfectly smooth underarm, legs, and bikini area? Satisfy your body to a laser hair removal treatment. With this, you never have to worry about stubbles appearing on your skin the day after! To see permanent results, you would need to come in for multiple sessions. If the treatment is new to you, 6 months before the big day is the best time to start. Such a period allows your skin to get used to any form of irritation.

❏     Leave your brows be

Eyebrows can take months to grow. Tweezing them every now and then can delay growth. Remember, these can make or break your whole look. Hence, it is best to let it grow and submit to the delicate hands of a specialist to achieve the perfect arches before the big day!

❏     Get a spray tan

If your skin tone is close to your gown's colour or you have uneven areas, it is best to get a spray tan for a golden glow! Half a year is the perfect time to test and learn how to maintain it.

3 Months Prior:

❏     Start getting your nails done

Having regular mani and pedis lets you experiment with different cuticle colours and styles. Plus, it helps nourish your nails. Do not miss this opportunity to achieve the perfect nail art for your ring shot!

❏     Get an eyelash extension.

For a bride who wants longer eyelashes but refuses a faux pair, treat yourself to an eyelash extension! Getting one at least one and a half months before your wedding day buys you time to figure out the length that works best with your features.

1 Month Prior:

❏     Get your teeth whitened

Want to achieve picture-perfect pearly whites? You can accomplish this by visiting your dentist or by trying out whitening strips.

❏     Finalise your look

Settle with the most suitable hair length for your wedding hairstyle by having a trim if need be. Also, get your last pre-wedding facial and have your eyebrows done for a refreshingly new look.

❏     Have a full-body massage and exfoliation

To cap off the effortful wedding planning, indulge yourself in a stress-relieving, full-body massage. Why? Because your skin will thank you for the rejuvenation and will return the favour with a healthy glow! Plus, you deserve it, darl!

Before the Wedding Day:

❏     Get enough sleep

A well-rested woman will not only have enough energy to entertain guests but will exemplify radiating beauty as well. Plus, it eliminates the potential appearance of eye bags and dark circles! Hence, indulge yourself to a night of good sleep and own the spotlight the next day!

On the Wedding Day:

❏     Have a hair and makeup session

Last but not least, take a seat and let the H&MU artists do the work for a stress-free wedding and a luscious look that will surely leave an impression!

Top 5 Tips for Choosing a Wedding Photographer

Top 5 Tips for Choosing a Wedding Photographer

These days the wedding services market is flooded with professionals as well as amateurs.  Some brides choose the photographer with the most attractive prices, some decide to invite the guy who photographed her best friend's wedding and others go by their gut feeling.

But how do you choose YOUR photographer? Here are some tips that will help you make the right decision:

1.     Scrutinize and study the photographer's portfolio. Find their website, Instagram, Facebook page – all you can get your hands on! The way the photographer posts their private photos can say a lot about their tastes! If you are dreaming of classical, modest photographs, it will be much harder to get them from a photographer who always asks newly-weds to jump and make silly faces.

2.     Generally speaking, wedding photographers publish only about a third of all the photos from a celebration on their websites. Don't be shy to ask for the others if you, for example, didn't find any shots with the cake or the first dance. (Did the photographer smudge all the shots or did this couple have no cake?)

3.     If a photographer offers a trial photo session – don't pass up on the opportunity! You can score double points for arranging trial make up to be done on the same day. You will get to see how your make up looks on the photos and get to know the make up artist and the photographer! Doing so will take away any uncertainty and stress of dealing with them on the Big Day, which is definitely something you don't want. As you will probably arrange for this quite some time in advance, they will be like some good old friends you are glad to see by the time your celebration happens!

4.     Pay attention as to what the photographer puts emphasis on. Do they ask you lots of questions to make this work for you, or do they take a more of an authoritarian stance, dictating their own rules on what the venue should be like, and what the guests can or cannot do? A good photographer will listen and make recommendations that are up to you to follow. A real professional will be able to work at any venue under any circumstances and your nanny taking photos on her phone definitely won’t interfere with their photography!

5.     And finally, the most important advice. Your wedding photographer is someone who will be very close to you during the Big Day. So find someone you enjoy being around. Find a person you can laugh with as your smile is the beginning of a good photo!
